If I remember correctly the current outdated version that is freely available is a beta version that was made available as a courtesy for people who had come to depend on the old Sounddiver on classic Mac OS, and wanted to continue using it on OSX.

emgaic I'd hate to have to really depend on it though. If you typically only use the same small list of patches from your synth they you can set them up as individual instrument objects but this is not a practical way to work if you routinely browse through the whole patch set of an XG or GS synth the way I do.
